Emerging Leaders Achievement Award in Desalination & Water Reuse

This award is presented biennially at IDA World Congress to encourage leadership in young professionals in the desalination industry. All members of the IDA Young Leaders Program are eligible to apply. Candidates must provide the following documents as well as a resume:

  • A narrative description of a personal accomplishment related to the industry. It should not be based on a technical paper presentation, but rather a record of accomplishment such as commissioning of a plant, patent pending, start-up of a company, etc.
  • A minimum of two recommendation letters from immediate superiors, collaborators or peers who witnessed the accomplishment.

Selection criteria will include the candidate’s contribution to the desalination and water reuse industry, his or her track record of positive leadership, and originality.

In Perth in 2011, Hiep Le, Principal Process Engineer for Osmoflo, won this award for his dedication to desalination process engineering and broad experience over many reverse osmosis projects. Hiep is a member of several organisations and is a committee member of the Australian Water Association’s Membrane and Desalination Special Interest Network. Hiep continues his commitment to lifelong learning through study of a Master of Business Administration.
