IDA YLP Active at the AMTA/AWWA Annual Conference

IDA YLP co-chair Richard White at the YLP event during the AMTA/AWWA annual conference

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) held their annual joint Membrane Technology Conference and Exposition this March in San Antonio, Texas.  The conference gave participants the opportunity to learn about the latest in membrane water treatment technologies and applications.  The highly anticipated 4-day conference was a great success with over 1,000 attendees and 90 exhibitors participating.  Included at the conference were 120 technical papers, 47 poster presentations, five pre-conference workshops, and two facility tours making it a jam packed week.

The IDA Young Leaders Program (YLP), in combination with AWWA and AMTA, hosted a Young Professionals Networking Reception.  The reception was held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center directly following the conference welcome reception.  The well attended event provided a relaxed atmosphere for young students and professionals to network with both colleagues and seasoned veterans in the industry.  Several YLP members including Ryan Furukawa, Richard White, and Juan Miguel Pinto hosted the event and introduced attendees to the excellent opportunities available in the membrane industry.

The reception attendees were particularly interested in hearing about the outstanding opportunities sponsored by IDA, including the $5,000 Emerging Leaders Achievement Award in Desalination and Water Reuse, and the $10,000 Channabasappa Memorial Scholarship which are both available to YLP members in 2013.
