Mike Dixon (Co-Chair)  Dr. Mike Dixon is a Senior Applications Engineer with NanoH2O Inc. in Los Angeles. He completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering at Adelaide University while working for the South Australian Water Corporation and has over 10 years experience in the water industry. His previous role was as R&D Engineer for the Adelaide Desalination Project. Mike has more than 50 international publications. He has also been the National President for Australian Water Association (AWA) Young Water Professionals in 2012, the IDA Fellowship Award winner in 2012 and a current member of the IDA Award Committee. Spoken languages: English.

McGovern_SquareRonan McGovern (Co-Chair) Mr. Mc Govern is a final year PhD student at MIT focusing on the design of hybrid membrane systems for brackish and produced waters. He is a native of Ireland and a fellow of the Fulbright International Science and Technology Program and a former IDA Channabasappa scholar. He is the holder of two issued US patents and more than twelve peer reviewed journal papers in the fields of thermal and membrane desalination. Spoken languages: English.

Richard White (Special/Technical Coordinator ) Mr. Richard White has over 10 years experience in the water treatment and membrane technology business. He has held many positions in the development of membrane treatment plants including: Business Development, Project Engineer, Design Engineer, Field Start-up Engineer and in the past few years Project Engineering Manager. Spoken languages: English, French.

Matan SquareMatan Beery (Special/Technical Coordinator) Dr. Beery has over five yeas experience in desalination and water treatment and is currently the senior researcher and project manager of akvolution, a university cleantech spin-off based in Berlin. Additionally, Dr Beery gives classes in Environmental Technology and Process Automation at universities in Berlin, China and Korea. He has also served as an academic coordinator at the Technion’s Chemical Engineering faculty in Israel. Spoken languages: English.

Ryan Furukawa (Regional Coordinator – North America) Mr. Furukawa has over 10 years of experience in the membrane industry dealing with MF, UF, NF, and RO systems.  He began his career at Hydranautics as an Applications Engineer and later held the role of Group Leader Technical Support.  Currently he holds the position of Director – Specilty Chemicals for Professional Water Technologies  where he has worked since 2009. Ryan has a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University. Spoken languages: English.

Assiyeh Tabatabai (Special/Technical Coordinator) Ms. Tabatabai is a PhD researcher in Water Supply Technology at UNESCO-IHE and Delft University of Technology. She has over 4 years of academic experience in water treatment technology and is currently researching physical-chemical processes for surface water treatment and seawater desalination pre-treatment. Spoken languages: English, Persian, Dutch, Spanish.

IIbrahim Bushnak SquareIbrahim Bushnak (Regional Coordinator – MENA Region) Mr.Bushnak is an active Saudi entrepreneur in the water field; he is a co-founder of Moya Holding/Moya Bushnak and currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Moya Bushnak. Ibrahim co-founded several local and international companies in the fields of Water/Energy/Media and Marketing. Ibrahim  is actively involved in the Saudi Water & Power Forum, which is the largest Water & Power annual event in Saudi Arabia.  Ibrahim obtained his Bachelors degree in Business Management from Webster’s University, UK and Masters in Entrepreneurial Management from European Business School (EBS). Mr. Bushnak is affiliated with the   following organizations; The International Desalination Association (IDA), and the Saudi Indian Business Network. Spoken languages: Arabic, English.

Nasir Moosa SqNasir Moosa (Special/Technical Coordinator) Nasir has previously worked for Evonik Degussa as a Plant Manager responsible for manufacturing activities for the Sulpholane Plant and operation of the site cooling towers. He has also worked for Shell Chemicals as a Process Engineering Manager in charge of large capital expansion projects and key technology innovations supporting Ethylene supply chain development. Since joining Dow Water and Process Solutions R&D, Nasir has been leading application development for seawater desalination in the Middle East with UF and RO technology for conditions in the Arabian Gulf & Red Sea. Nasir holds a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester, UK and is a fellow chartered engineer from IChemE. Spoken languages: Arabic, English.

YangXing SqXing Yang (Special/Technical Coordinator) Dr Yang is currently a research fellow and lecturer in the Institute of Innovation & Sustainability (ISI) at Victoria University. With a background on chemical engineering, she has been involved in membrane technology, wastewater treatment and desalination industry in China and Southeast Asia for close to eight years. Xing received her PhD in civil and environmental engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. She has authored more than 20 publications in Tier-1 journals, books and conferences. Spoken languages: English, Chinese.

LE GALLOU  SarahSarah Le Gallou (Regional Coordinator – Europe) After three years developing reverse osmosis processes applied to the food industry, Sarah joined Degrémont and its desalination process expertise department in 2007. There, she has participated in the technical elaboration and optimization of several major desalination projects all over the world (Namibia, Middle East, China, South America, North Africa) and has written and presented several articles both at IDA and EDS conferences. Within Degrémont, Sarah has also been a process and technical engineer in two major plants commissioning: Barcelona, Spain and Al Dur, Bahrain. In 2013, she joined EDF-CIT (a major group in the design, construction and operation of thermal power plants) as technical lead engineer for water resources, where she designs and optimizes water production for power plants. Spoken languages: French, English.

Victoria VasiniVictoria Vasini (Regional Coordinator – Latin America and the Caribbean) Victoria Vasini, Application Engineer of RWL Water is based in Argentina and was invited to participate of the Young Leaders Program (YLP) of the International Desalination Association (IDA). This program in intended to create opportunities for emerging leaders in desalination to connect, advance their companies and promote interest in desalination around the world.

She works for our company since 2008 with more than 7 years of experience in Food and Beverage Industry (F&B). Victoria has been developing water and wastewater treatment solutions focusing on the F&B market mainly in Brazil.

Prior to this she has worked at The Coca-Cola Company in the city of Buenos Aires. She received a degree as Chemical Engineer from the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata. She is finishing her studies to have a post-graduation on Innovation & Technology Management from the same Institution.

Fluent in English and Portuguese the Argentinian engineer dances tango, plays handball and also finds time to meet her friends.
